The bureau option saved us

We compared a few options before committing. PAYE, UIF and SDL are calculated correctly and the EMP201 figures are ready every month.

Pros

SARS statutory compliance; leave and loan tracking.

Cons

Bureau service is a separate quote.

Bureau pricing is a separate quote on top of the software. We are weighing up alternatives.

Business Services · 1–10 employees South Africa Used for 1–2 years

EMP501 season is a non event now

Based in Pretoria, serving clients across Gauteng. For a small employer the monthly price is genuinely affordable. We started running it ourselves then handed it to the bureau when we got busy, same system. It does exactly what we needed.

Pros

Leave and loan tracking; EMP201 and EMP501 output.

Office Manager · Centurion Retail Group

Retail · 1–10 employees South Africa Used for Less than 6 months

Fine for the basics, thin at the edges

We compared a few options before committing. The EMP501 output made the February reconciliation a non event for the first time. Bureau pricing is a separate quote on top of the software. Gets the job done, room to improve.

Pros

Emailed payslips and self service; local South African support.

Cons

Bureau service is a separate quote.

Local support when I get stuck

I look after this for our team in Polokwane. The EMP501 output made the February reconciliation a non event for the first time. Payslips email out in minutes and staff can pull their own history. I would pick it again, but with open eyes.

Pros

Leave and loan tracking; local South African support; emailed payslips and self service.

HR Manager

Construction · 11–50 employees South Africa Used for 6–12 months

Outgrew it faster than expected

I look after this for our team in Johannesburg. A few advanced report layouts are not there out of the box. The interface is simple, which is good, but power users may want more depth.

Cons

A complex payroll pushed its limits.
