Overview
What is Sage Business Cloud Payroll?
Sage Business Cloud Payroll is Sage's answer for South African employers who want payroll done in the browser without worrying about year end software updates. Legislative changes ship automatically in the cloud, so PAYE, UIF and SDL calculations are always current with SARS, and the pay run itself is a guided process that a small business owner can complete without payroll training.
The pricing is tiered purely by headcount and is easy to budget for. Two employees cost R90 per month including VAT. Ten employees cost R401, twenty five cost R951, fifty cost R1,712, one hundred cost R3,014 and the top tier of two hundred employees costs R4,182 per month. Every tier includes unlimited companies and unlimited users, which makes it particularly attractive for bookkeepers and accountants running payroll for several clients from one login.
Weekly, fortnightly and monthly pay cycles are all supported, payslips go out by email, UIF declarations are generated for the Department of Employment and Labour, leave is managed in the product and ACB payment files come out ready for the bank. Calculations happen in real time, so you can see the effect of a change before you commit the run. It integrates directly with Sage Accounting for the general ledger, and you can try a demo company free for 30 days without entering a card.

Tax changes land in the product overnight and I never install anything. The tiers by headcount are clear, you always know what growth will cost. If you are still installing payroll updates, you are working too hard.

Setup was quicker than making the coffee
Mostly a pleasure, occasionally a shrug. Bulk changes across many employees still mean editing one at a time. The leave module means my staff request days in the app, not in the passage.
