Financial Services · 201–500 employees South Africa Used for 6–12 months

Doing the job for us in Knysna

Job costing changed how we price contracts, we finally see true margin per job. Sage Intelligence gives the exco their monthly pack straight from the ledger. For SA mid market businesses this is the sensible ERP conversation to have.

Cons

Interface feels dated

South Africa Used for 1–2 years

Runs our 180 user operation end to end

We consolidated five companies onto one platform and month end became sane. It absorbed a 40 percent growth year without breaking stride. Local product, local support, proper depth. Recommended.

Pros

Procurement approval workflows

Cons

Interface feels dated

Solid choice for our Vereeniging business

Fixed assets, job costing and CRM in the same database ended our spreadsheet farm. Credit control workflows chase debtors before humans remember to. The partner channel means you are never more than a phone call from help.

Pros

Handles growing transaction volumes; granular user security

Cons

No published pricing, everything is quoted

Good but not perfect for our Rustenburg team

Good system, but understand you are buying a project not a product. The screens work but graduates raised on cloud software find them foreign. Upgrades between versions are mini projects with consulting hours attached.

Pros

Natural upgrade path from Pastel; procurement approval workflows

Cons

No published pricing, everything is quoted

Serving our Upington operation well

We evaluated the international ERPs and the local pricing and support won. User security is granular down to the field level where we need it. It absorbed a 40 percent growth year without breaking stride. The step up from Pastel every growing business eventually needs.

Pros

SQL Server foundation, no data black box

A quiet workhorse for 4 years now

It was built here, and you feel that in how it handles VAT and SARS reporting. Sage Intelligence gives the exco their monthly pack straight from the ledger. The SQL foundation means our BI tool reads live data straight from the source.

Mostly happy in George, a few gripes

It rewards the disciplined and punishes the casual. The screens work but graduates raised on cloud software find them foreign. You need a proper server and IT discipline, this is not plug and play.

Pros

POS option feeding the same ledger

Cons

Implementation is a genuine project

Decent fit for a 80 person company

It does what we need, though rarely in a modern looking way. Some modules like CRM feel like an afterthought next to the financial core. Every module posts to one general ledger so the numbers always agree.

Pros

Strong job costing and BOM functionality

Logistics · 51–200 employees Zimbabwe Used for 6–12 months

Grew from 5 users to 55 without changing systems

Implementation took four months with our business partner and it was worth the slog. The modular licensing meant we bought what we needed and added later. Would we choose it again? We did, for our second company.

Pros

Granular user security

No complaints after 5 years

As a manufacturer, the bill of materials and WIP tracking fit us exactly.

Pros

POS option feeding the same ledger; granular user security

Cons

Training costs add up per module
