Office Manager · Paarl Construction

26 March 2025

Construction · 201–500 employees South Africa Used for 1–2 years

The e@syFile export just works

It handles our bargaining council deductions that every cloud tool we tried simply could not. The whole team is used to it now.

Pros

ETI and UIF handled properly; GL integration with Sage accounting.

Cons

Rigid standard reports.

Our auditors never query the payroll numbers

I am the bookkeeper for a company in Paarl. ETI is calculated automatically and it has saved us real money we were leaving on the table. No plans to change.

Financial Manager · Cape Town Logistics

8 December 2025

Logistics · 11–50 employees South Africa Used for 2+ years

Mostly smooth, occasionally frustrating

Every payroll administrator we interview already knows it, which makes hiring easier. The interface feels dated next to the cloud tools, it is function over form. We stay because switching is more effort than the niggles.

Pros

E@syFile and EMP501 exports that reconcile; bargaining council and provident fund support.

Cons

Getting a straight price out of a partner took weeks.

Fine for the basics, thin at the edges

We run three pay frequencies across two companies and it never gets confused. Every payroll administrator we interview already knows it, which makes hiring easier. I would pick it again, but with open eyes.

Pros

GL integration with Sage accounting; statutory tables maintained automatically.

EMP501 season finally holds no fear

Our business works across Gauteng from Midrand. The IRP5 export drops straight into e@syFile and our EMP501 reconciled first time in August.

Pros

GL integration with Sage accounting; bargaining council and provident fund support; ETI and UIF handled properly.

Cons

Desktop roots show for remote work.

Payroll Administrator · Mofokeng Foods

17 August 2025

Food & Beverage · 500+ employees South Africa Used for 6–12 months

Mostly smooth, occasionally frustrating

Typical the Western Cape business, tight margins, no time to waste. The IRP5 export drops straight into e@syFile and our EMP501 reconciled first time in August. It is desktop at heart, so remote access needs a bit of IT setup. Decent value if you keep it simple.

Pros

E@syFile and EMP501 exports that reconcile.

Cons

Steep learning curve for new staff; rigid standard reports.

Real Estate · 11–50 employees South Africa Used for 2+ years

Price climbs, value does not

I look after this for our team in Centurion. Pricing is quote only, which makes it hard to budget before you talk to a partner. Annual licence increases arrive without much warning. We are weighing up alternatives.

Cons

The annual price increases sting.
