Office Manager · Stellenbosch Retail Group Group

12 December 2024

Retail · 11–50 employees South Africa Used for 6–12 months

Runs 300 payslips without breaking a sweat

I am the office manager for a company in Stellenbosch. ETI is calculated automatically and it has saved us real money we were leaving on the table. Every payroll administrator we interview already knows it, which makes hiring easier. If you are on the fence, take the demo.

ETI calculated without me lifting a finger

The general ledger journal posts straight into our Sage books with no rekeying. PAYE, UIF and SDL all update the moment the budget changes, I never chase tables anymore. Would recommend it to any serious SA business.

Pros

GL integration with Sage accounting; ETI and UIF handled properly; bargaining council and provident fund support.

Financial Manager · Gqeberha Foods

Food & Beverage · 500+ employees South Africa Used for 2+ years

Implementation was harder than promised

The interface feels dated next to the cloud tools, it is function over form. Disappointed given the price.

Cons

Getting a straight price out of a partner took weeks.

Office Manager · Pretoria Agri

Agriculture · 201–500 employees South Africa Used for 1–2 years

Statutory updates land before I even ask

I look after this for our team in Pretoria. PAYE, UIF and SDL all update the moment the budget changes, I never chase tables anymore. Retrospective increases backdated two months calculated correctly without any manual patching. Would recommend it to any serious SA business.

Pros

Multiple companies and pay frequencies; local support that understands SA law.

Cons

Desktop roots show for remote work.

Agriculture · 500+ employees South Africa Used for 1–2 years

Retrospective changes handled cleanly

Twenty odd years on it and the February and August SARS seasons are routine now. The general ledger journal posts straight into our Sage books with no rekeying. Decent value if you keep it simple.

Pros

Multiple companies and pay frequencies; e@syFile and EMP501 exports that reconcile.

Reconciles to the cent every month

We moved across from our previous system last year. We run three pay frequencies across two companies and it never gets confused. Retrospective increases backdated two months calculated correctly without any manual patching. Worth the investment.

Pros

Administrators everywhere already know it; e@syFile and EMP501 exports that reconcile; GL integration with Sage accounting.

Cons

Rigid standard reports.

Happy overall, watching the cost

It handles our bargaining council deductions that every cloud tool we tried simply could not. Watching the annual price though.

EMP501 season finally holds no fear

Not quite the experience we were sold

The learning curve for a new administrator is real, you need the training. Hoping the next update sorts it out.

Cons

Getting a straight price out of a partner took weeks.

Outgrew it faster than expected

Annual licence increases arrive without much warning. It is desktop at heart, so remote access needs a bit of IT setup. Support needs serious attention.

Cons

Getting a straight price out of a partner took weeks; quote only pricing.
