Mixed feelings after 5 years

Superb payroll software in the middle of a platform transition. The calculator based cloud pricing makes budgeting a guessing game until the quote lands.

Pros

Journal export to Xero and FreeAgent; employee app for payslips and P60s

Cons

Cloud pricing needs a calculator quote

Still glad we chose it, 10 years later

RTI submissions file to HMRC on time, every period, without ceremony. Automatic cloud backups ended the desktop backup discipline problem.

Pros

Employee app for payslips and P60s

Transition period support waits

Exactly what our 9 person business needed

After 5 years serving UK clients from South Africa, this software carries the practice. Automatic cloud backups ended the desktop backup discipline problem.

Cons

Some workflows smoother on desktop still

UK payroll from South Africa, professionally

CIS handling for construction clients works properly, which UK software often fumbles. Payslip layouts are polished enough that clients notice the upgrade. The most reliable software in our entire practice stack.

Pros

Statutory pay correct first time; batch processing across employers

Cons

UK and Irish legislation only

Working well for our 7 person team

We onboarded a new UK client book of thirty employers in a fortnight. Worth every pound of the licence, and it is not many pounds.

Pros

HMRC recognised RTI that never fails; bureau licence covers unlimited employers

Good decision for a 18 person company

Auto enrolment used to terrify our juniors, the software walks them through it. Batch processing runs a dozen small employers before the first coffee. Pension re enrolment dates track themselves across every employer. Recommended to every outsourcing practice we meet.

Pros

CIS for construction clients

Cons

History migration needs checking

Running 8 UK client payrolls from Umhlanga

Our bureau in Worcester runs 15 UK client payrolls on it and pay day has never once slipped. The client portal lets UK employers approve timesheets in their own morning. The most reliable software in our entire practice stack.

Journal export to Xero and FreeAgent

Solid choice for our Vereeniging business

Auto enrolment used to terrify our juniors, the software walks them through it. HMRC recognition means submissions just work, no middleware, no prayers. Our bureau would not run without it.

Pros

Client portals for approvals

Cons

Transition period support waits

Frustrating experience for our 14 person team

Transition support did not match the product's usual standard. Two client files migrated with pension history gaps we caught by luck.

Cons

Cloud migration disrupted our busy season

We loved the desktop and the desktop is being retired under us. Two client files migrated with pension history gaps we caught by luck. The cloud quote for our book nearly doubled our software line.

Pros

Statutory pay correct first time

Cons

Pension history gaps after migration

Solid choice for our Gqeberha business

The support team answers like payroll specialists because they are. Automatic cloud backups ended the desktop backup discipline problem. Furlough era complexity was handled quickly, which earned lasting trust. Worth every pound of the licence, and it is not many pounds.

Pros

Polished payslip layouts

Every UK payroll award is deserved

The cloud platform means our UK clients approve runs in their portal overnight our time. New tax year updates arrive seamlessly with the rates already right. If you serve UK clients from SA, this is the standard for a reason.

Cons

History migration needs checking

From three clients to 12, same software

Excellent for UK work, and obviously it does nothing for SA payrolls. Support waits stretched during the transition rush. Support turnaround on a technical statutory question was under an hour.

Pros

Seamless new tax year updates; employee app for payslips and P60s

Cons

Desktop retirement forces migration

2 years in and still happy

Statutory sick pay, maternity, paternity, it calculates all of it correctly first time. The price per client is low enough that small employers stay profitable to serve. New tax year updates arrive seamlessly with the rates already right. Recommended to every outsourcing practice we meet.

Cons

Cloud pricing needs a calculator quote
