Decent fit for a 28 person company

Great software navigating its own cloud migration with mixed grace. The calculator based cloud pricing makes budgeting a guessing game until the quote lands.

Pros

Batch processing across employers; specialist support that answers fast

Cons

Desktop retirement forces migration

Running 8 UK client payrolls from Ballito

Superb payroll software in the middle of a platform transition. It is UK and Irish legislation only, an SA employer needs local software. Payslip layouts are polished enough that clients notice the upgrade.

Cons

Transition period support waits

From three clients to 40, same software

After 8 years of desktop comfort the cloud move asks patience of us. Our quote for the cloud came in higher than the old desktop licence, noticeably.

Pros

Client portals for approvals

Cons

Cloud pricing needs a calculator quote

Good but not perfect for our Worcester team

Excellent for UK work, and obviously it does nothing for SA payrolls. Some bureau workflows still feel smoother in the desktop version.

Cons

UK and Irish legislation only

Doing the job for us in Upington

Our UK clients' employees get payslips through the app and the queries dried up. Support turnaround on a technical statutory question was under an hour. The most reliable software in our entire practice stack.

Cons

Some workflows smoother on desktop still

Our Sandton office gave up on it

The forced cloud migration landed in our busiest quarter. Tickets during the migration window took days instead of hours. Training the team on the cloud workflows cost a week we had not budgeted.

Pros

Polished payslip layouts

Cons

Migration landed on busy season

Fine for now, watching the roadmap

Great software navigating its own cloud migration with mixed grace. The calculator based cloud pricing makes budgeting a guessing game until the quote lands. Some bureau workflows still feel smoother in the desktop version.

Still glad we chose it, 2 years later

Auto enrolment used to terrify our juniors, the software walks them through it. HMRC recognition means submissions just work, no middleware, no prayers.

Not what we hoped for our Somerset West business

The forced cloud migration landed in our busiest quarter. The cloud quote for our book nearly doubled our software line.

Serving our Somerset West operation well

CIS handling for construction clients works properly, which UK software often fumbles. New tax year updates arrive seamlessly with the rates already right. Worth every pound of the licence, and it is not many pounds.

Statutory sick pay, maternity, paternity, it calculates all of it correctly first time. HMRC recognition means submissions just work, no middleware, no prayers.

Good but not perfect for our Springs team

Great software navigating its own cloud migration with mixed grace. Migration of multi year client history to the cloud needed careful checking. Our quote for the cloud came in higher than the old desktop licence, noticeably.

Good decision for a 5 person company

CIS handling for construction clients works properly, which UK software often fumbles. Automatic cloud backups ended the desktop backup discipline problem. Our bureau would not run without it.

Solid choice for our Upington business

After 2 years serving UK clients from South Africa, this software carries the practice. Support turnaround on a technical statutory question was under an hour. The price per client is low enough that small employers stay profitable to serve.
