Nomvula Joubert

Financial Controller

23 August 2025

Manufacturing · 1–10 employees South Africa Used for 2+ years

Good but not perfect for our Johannesburg team

After 5 years the value is proven and the quirks familiar. Remote access means the hosted option or remote desktop. The price per user embarrasses the equivalent tier at the big names.

Cons

Thin mobile story

Wholesale · 11–50 employees South Africa Used for 1–2 years

Local software, local support, local sense

Good software with a smaller ecosystem around it. The interface is functional Windows fare, no more. Reports drill from summary to source document cleanly.

Cons

Report customisation takes patience

Logistics · 1–10 employees South Africa Used for 6–12 months

Good decision for a 4 person company

The hosted option moved us off our dying server without drama. Reports drill from summary to source document cleanly. The best software our accountant had never heard of, and now recommends.

Pros

Responsive local development; native SA VAT and SARS alignment

Our accountant in Klerksdorp recommended it, good call

Our feature request made it into a release within the year, try that with the giants. Multi warehouse stock stays accurate because the transactions force discipline. Stock heavy SA businesses should evaluate it before paying ERP money.

Pros

Free single user edition

Agriculture · 51–200 employees South Africa Used for 1–2 years

Working well for our 160 person team

The Enterprise subscription includes support and updates, no surprise invoices. Local value that deserves a louder reputation.

Pros

Landed costs on imports; free single user edition

Cons

Remote access needs arranging

Logistics · 1–10 employees South Africa Used for 2+ years

Mostly happy in Johannesburg, a few gripes

After 5 years the value is proven and the quirks familiar. The mobile story is thin, this is desk software. User level security keeps the sales floor out of the ledger.

Pros

Free single user edition

Cons

Remote access needs arranging

Retail · 11–50 employees South Africa Used for 6–12 months

Working well for our 22 person team

We moved off Pastel when stock got serious and Palladium gave us warehouse depth at half the quoted alternatives. The price per user embarrasses the equivalent tier at the big names. It does what the expensive names do, quietly and cheaper.

Serving our Knysna operation well

Support is a Johannesburg number and the person answering knows the product cold. Landed cost handling spreads freight and duties properly on imports. Updates arrive steadily and break nothing we use.

Pros

Bills of materials for light assembly

Cons

Remote access needs arranging

Wholesale · 11–50 employees Namibia Used for Less than 6 months

Solid choice for our Benoni business

Serial number tracking on our electronics stock paid for itself in the first warranty dispute. Year end runs without the consultant visit our old package required. Data conversions from Pastel come across with history intact.

Our accountant had never heard of it

We wanted the app store ecosystem the big names carry. Finding a consultant in a smaller town took real searching. Integrations we assumed existed needed custom work.

Still glad we chose it, 3 years later

VAT and SARS reporting come out right because it was built here. Landed cost handling spreads freight and duties properly on imports. Stock heavy SA businesses should evaluate it before paying ERP money.
