We moved from a cloud product back to Pastel for the processing speed alone. Supplier and customer ageing reports are exactly what a credit controller needs. Twenty years from now someone will still be running their books on Pastel.

It has survived three office moves, two server upgrades and one flood with us. Load shedding does not touch us, the server sits on an inverter and we keep working.

We rate the engine highly and the interface far less. Remote access means remote desktop gymnastics or paying for hosting. Every useful extra is a separate module with a separate price.

We run stock, debtors, creditors and the ledger for two branches on it. The Intelligence reporting module turns the ledger into proper management packs. Solid, familiar and everywhere. That combination is hard to beat.

It is dependable to a fault and dated to a fault. Rebuild functions fix data issues but the fact you need them says something. Inventory with serial numbers has kept our warehouse honest for years.

There is a Pastel consultant ten minutes from us and that changes everything. The bank manager module reconciles Standard Bank statements quickly once the rules are set. Our audit fees dropped because the records are so clean. Enough said.
