Decent fit for a 18 person company

A good honest product with a British accent you will need to manage. There is no employment equity or skills reporting, that stays in spreadsheets. Exporting for the accountant or a labour consultant takes one click.

Our Knysna team stopped arguing about leave

It handles the basics well and the basics are most of it. Public holidays needed manual loading for the South African calendar. Absence reporting surfaced patterns our gut had missed.

Sickness tracking showed us a pattern we had felt but never seen. The org chart stays current because the records underneath it do. Approvals route to the right manager without anyone maintaining a diagram.

Good but not perfect for our Sandton team

Solid records and leave, everything else is lighter. The leave defaults arrive very British and need proper SA configuration on day one. The org chart stays current because the records underneath it do.

We spent our first month undoing British defaults. Statutory SA leave categories had to be faked with custom types.

Managers approve leave from their phones and the office manager got her Fridays back. Performance check ins are light but they happen, which beats heavy and skipped. Leave balances calculate themselves and staff check the app instead of asking.

7 years in and still happy

Leave lived in a shared spreadsheet nobody trusted, now nobody argues. Document acknowledgement means policy arguments end with a timestamp. New managers learn it in an afternoon because there is nothing to learn. Small companies deserve HR software this straightforward.
