Books review before month end catches the problems while they are still small. Ledger costs a fraction of a full subscription and is exactly enough for an entity with thirty transactions a year. Transaction reclassification, journal templates and the audit trail make cleanups almost pleasant. The tooling respects accountants, which is rarer than it should be.

The accountant tools are superb, the surrounding workflow less so. Client bank feeds are the recurring headache, when a feed drops the client blames us. The practice management layer tracks work without us paying for a separate tool.
