Free sets the bar low and the platform clears it easily, mostly. Client bank feeds are the recurring headache, when a feed drops the client blames us.
Pros
50 percent client discounts for the duration
Cons
Support queues with consumer customers

Work assignments mean I always know which junior owns which client this week. Client subscription billing runs through the firm, one invoice to us, margin retained.
Pros
Books review workflow for month end quality; find an Advisor directory listing
Cons
No SARS eFiling integration

The reclassify tool moves a hundred miscoded transactions in the time the old way moved ten. The books review workflow standardised our month end quality across every junior.
Pros
All client books behind one login; completely free for accounting practices

As a Bloemfontein practice competing with bigger firms, the tooling levels the field. Our whole team works in the same client file simultaneously during busy season. For a cloud practice in South Africa this is the obvious platform decision.

Free sets the bar low and the platform clears it easily, mostly. Some review tools assume US tax concepts and need mental translation. Jumping between client files takes seconds and each one opens with the accountant toolkit ready.
Pros
50 percent client discounts for the duration; deadline tracking across all clients
Cons
Client bank feed issues land on the firm

As a Mossel Bay practice competing with bigger firms, the tooling levels the field. Training materials are current, free and structured enough to onboard staff with. For a cloud practice in South Africa this is the obvious platform decision.
Pros
Free ProAdvisor training and certification; deadline tracking across all clients
Cons
Support queues with consumer customers

We rate it highly while keeping a list of grievances. The practice management is fine for small firms and creaks for bigger ones.
Pros
Bulk reclassify and write off tools
Cons
No SARS eFiling integration

After 10 years running the practice on it, the verdict is positive with caveats. There is no SARS eFiling integration, so VAT returns still end with manual capture.
Pros
Free ProAdvisor training and certification

Our practice runs 18 client files on the platform and the single login changed the texture of my week. The practice management layer tracks work without us paying for a separate tool. Ledger costs a fraction of a full subscription and is exactly enough for an entity with thirty transactions a year.
Pros
QuickBooks Ledger for dormant entities
Cons
Some tools assume US tax concepts

Good system, though busy season exposes its queues. There is no SARS eFiling integration, so VAT returns still end with manual capture. Transaction reclassification, journal templates and the audit trail make cleanups almost pleasant.
Pros
Practice management included; find an Advisor directory listing
Cons
Directory leads skew international

Books review before month end catches the problems while they are still small. Certification badges on the team's profiles genuinely help when pitching new clients. The Find an Advisor listing has sent us a handful of genuine leads. Free plus client discounts is a business model we happily joined.
Cons
Ledger is accountant access only

Every accountant only tool earns its place, these were clearly designed by people who have done the work. Training materials are current, free and structured enough to onboard staff with. It made our small firm feel like a big firm.

Books review workflow for month end quality; bulk reclassify and write off tools

Our experience has been decent software wrapped in indifferent service. We asked for a SARS integration roadmap and got a survey link.
Cons
Migration mangled opening balances. Feed failures cost billable hours

The client dashboard shows every file's status at a glance, our Monday meeting runs off it. Jumping between client files takes seconds and each one opens with the accountant toolkit ready. The Find an Advisor listing has sent us a handful of genuine leads. If your firm is still emailing backups around, come see how this feels.

50 percent client discounts for the duration; free ProAdvisor training and certification

Very good, and it would be exceptional with proper local integration. Ledger is great but clients cannot touch it themselves, which surprises some of them. Transaction reclassification, journal templates and the audit trail make cleanups almost pleasant.
Pros
Free ProAdvisor training and certification
Cons
Directory leads skew international

As a Worcester practice competing with bigger firms, the tooling levels the field. Client subscription billing runs through the firm, one invoice to us, margin retained. Training materials are current, free and structured enough to onboard staff with. The tooling respects accountants, which is rarer than it should be.
