Food & Beverage · 51–200 employees South Africa Used for 6–12 months

Decent fit for a 70 person company

We use maybe half of it well, and that half is excellent. Revenue recognition works for simple schedules and gets fiddly past that. Reports we used to build manually every month now refresh themselves on schedule.

Pros

Twenty five user seats

The custom report builder is the real product

Our Somerset West head office and three branches all live in one file with clean segment reporting. Excel sync goes both ways, edit in the sheet and the books update, which still feels like magic. Expensive until you compare it with the alternatives, then suddenly cheap.

Pros

Twelve custom fields

More seats than most of us will use

A genuinely capable tier that makes you pay for every bit of that capability. The seat count is generous but we use eleven of the twenty five and pay for all of them. The Finance AI summaries give our MD a weekly picture without anyone building it.

Cons

AI features still maturing

Expected better, Vereeniging customer

The automation promised simplicity and delivered a hobby. Batch invoicing failed on our VAT setup and the fix took three weeks of tickets. The price difference against Plus bought us features we opened twice.

Cons

Downgraded and lost nothing we missed

Mostly happy in Paarl, a few gripes

Powerful, and priced like it knows it. A few of the AI features are still labelled beta and behave like it. Unlimited chart of accounts meant our group structure finally fitted properly.

Pros

Handles higher transaction volumes smoothly; revenue recognition for contract businesses

Cons

AI features still maturing

Overkill sold as necessity

The gap between the US product and what reaches South Africa is widest at this level. The workflow we needed most hit an edge case support could not untangle.

Pros

Backup and restore included

Cons

Downgraded and lost nothing we missed

Mixed feelings after 3 years

The strengths are real and so is the invoice every month. The rand price moves when the exchange rate does, which makes budgeting interesting.

Pros

Backup and restore included; unlimited chart of accounts, classes and locations

Cons

Some features reach South Africa late

Grew past Plus, landed softly here

Approvals used to be email threads, now they are workflows with an audit trail.

Food & Beverage South Africa Used for 2+ years

Decent fit for a 20 person company

Good software with an identity somewhere between accounting package and junior ERP. Support at this tier is better, but complex questions still bounce between agents. Reports we used to build manually every month now refresh themselves on schedule.

Cons

AI features still maturing

Not what we hoped for our Centurion business

For this price the rough edges are inexcusable. Batch invoicing failed on our VAT setup and the fix took three weeks of tickets.

Pros

Custom report builder with scheduled refresh

Cons

Demo features unavailable in our region

ERP control without the ERP project

Batch invoicing pushed out four hundred invoices in the time the old way did forty. The Finance AI summaries give our MD a weekly picture without anyone building it. If you are weighing this against an ERP quote, do the maths and smile.

Logistics · 11–50 employees South Africa Used for 6–12 months

Decent fit for a 15 person company

The strengths are real and so is the invoice every month. The workflow builder is powerful once you learn its logic, and its logic takes learning. Excel sync goes both ways, edit in the sheet and the books update, which still feels like magic.

Frustrating experience for our 60 person team

The gap between the US product and what reaches South Africa is widest at this level. Batch invoicing failed on our VAT setup and the fix took three weeks of tickets. Two features from the sales demo turned out to be unavailable in our region.

Frustrating experience for our 300 person team

The gap between the US product and what reaches South Africa is widest at this level. Nobody at support could explain the revenue recognition behaviour we were seeing.

Custom fields finally enough for our workflow

Powerful, and priced like it knows it. Reports are superb, dashboards less so. Unlimited chart of accounts meant our group structure finally fitted properly.

Doing the job for us in Durban

The revenue recognition handles our annual contracts without the deferred income spreadsheet. VAT stays correct through the automation, the batch invoicing, all of it. The top tier is the first tier that feels built for companies our size.

Pros

Two way Excel data sync; handles higher transaction volumes smoothly

Good but not perfect for our East London team

The strengths are real and so is the invoice every month. A few of the AI features are still labelled beta and behave like it.

Our accountant in East London recommended it, good call

For a finance team of 40 people the permission granularity is the difference between order and chaos. Unlimited chart of accounts meant our group structure finally fitted properly. Worth it for the report builder alone.

Pros

Role based access with custom roles

Doing okay for our 25 person setup

It solved our reporting problem and introduced a budgeting one. Reports are superb, dashboards less so.

Cons

Priced for companies that use all of it
