A quiet workhorse for 8 years now

Everything I invoice, every slip I capture, it is all in one place now. Statements go out to all customers in one run at month end. Reports are simple but they answer the question I actually have, which is where the money went.

Mostly happy in George, a few gripes

For a business our size it works, but I can see us outgrowing it. Multi currency costs extra, which stung when we landed our first Namibian client. Price increases have come through every year, still fair but the trend worries me.

Bank feeds from the major SA banks are quick to set up

Foreign currency is a paid extra

Serving our Paarl operation well

My accountant suggested it when we registered for VAT and it has carried us since. Quotes convert to invoices with one click and clients can pay straight from the invoice. Statements go out to all customers in one run at month end. The 30 day trial costs you nothing, start there like I did.

Accountant access is included, no extra licence

Cons

Project costing is not really there

Does everything my 6 person business needs

Happy enough to renew, not happy enough to rave. Multi currency costs extra, which stung when we landed our first Namibian client. Support picked up within minutes the two times I actually needed them.

Some screens feel slow on weak connections

Does everything my 30 person business needs

Came from Xero for the local support and it has been a fair trade. The mobile app lags when capturing photos of slips, especially on Android.

Pros

Every bookkeeper in the country knows it

Stock module not suited to serious warehousing

Decent fit for a 9 person company

Decent system that occasionally tests my patience. Price increases have come through every year, still fair but the trend worries me.

Pros

Rand pricing with a proper local support line; support agents understand SARS questions

Cons

The Start plan is limited to one user

No complaints after 3 years

We came off desktop Pastel and the move was far less painful than I feared. Quotes convert to invoices with one click and clients can pay straight from the invoice. VAT at 15 percent is calculated on everything automatically and the return is basically ready when SARS comes knocking. It does what the brochure says, which is rarer than it should be.

Handles multiple small companies from one login; quotes and invoices are genuinely fast

Our George office gave up on it

For what we pay now after the increases, my expectations are simply not being met. Every price letter says the same thing about added value I am not seeing.

Cons

Stock counts never reconciled and nobody could tell us why

Mostly happy in Randburg, a few gripes

Solid for invoicing and VAT, less convincing once stock gets involved. Support is friendly when you reach them but the queue can be long at month end. Recurring invoices run themselves on the first of the month, I do not touch them.

Pros

Support agents understand SARS questions; debtors management is simple and clear

Report layouts cannot really be customised

Cancellation process was a mission. Support response times were unacceptable, days not hours

Expected better, Upington customer

Signed up on the strength of the reviews and regretted it within the first quarter. The stock figures and the physical count never agreed and we could not trace why. Reports would not give me the one breakdown SARS asked for and I rebuilt it by hand.

Great fit for a small Worcester business

Happy enough to renew, not happy enough to rave. Some screens take a few seconds too long to load on slow connections.

Payroll journals post across automatically; accountant access is included, no extra licence

Does everything my 5 person business needs

The price in rand, billed in rand, with support in our time zone. That matters. It flagged a duplicate supplier invoice last month and paid for itself right there. If you are a small business still doing manual books, just make the jump.

I run three small companies and manage all of them from one login. The Afrikaans support agent I got walked me through my first VAT return patiently.

Great fit for a small Randburg business

We run our whole 18 person operation on it and the books have never been this clean. Yoco payments reconcile against invoices without me lifting a finger. Every plumber, sparky and consultant I know gets the same advice from me now.
