Construction & Trades · 201–500 employees South Africa Used for Less than 6 months

Serving our Johannesburg operation well

The Capitec bank feed pulls everything in overnight so reconciliation is just confirming matches. Everything syncs to the cloud so load shedding at the office just means I work from home. It handles our small stock list fine and warns us when items run low. It has genuinely given me my evenings back.

Pros

The audit trail is clean and complete

Cons

Support queue gets long around VAT deadlines

Great fit for a small Mossel Bay business

We got audited last year and pulling the records took minutes, not days. The eFiling numbers and the system numbers agree to the cent every single period.

Serving our Benoni operation well

The trial convinced me inside a week, mostly because of the bank feeds. Recurring invoices run themselves on the first of the month, I do not touch them.

Pros

Every bookkeeper in the country knows it; works fine on a tablet at the counter

Cons

Report layouts cannot really be customised

Expected better, Sandton customer

The bank feed issue was the last straw for me. The feed duplicated a full month of transactions and untangling it took my bookkeeper a week. The stock figures and the physical count never agreed and we could not trace why.

Cons

Bank feed reliability let us down repeatedly

Good but not perfect for our Johannesburg team

For a business our size it works, but I can see us outgrowing it. Price increases have come through every year, still fair but the trend worries me. I wish budgeting was built in properly instead of feeling like an afterthought.

Pros

Support agents understand SARS questions; payroll journals post across automatically

Cons

Inventory reporting is basic, detailed analysis means Excel

Finally stopped doing my books in Excel

The everyday stuff is great. The moment you need something unusual it gets harder. I wish budgeting was built in properly instead of feeling like an afterthought.

Cons

The Start plan is limited to one user

Frustrating experience for our 75 person team

The system itself is okay. Getting help when it breaks is not. Every price letter says the same thing about added value I am not seeing.

Cons

Support response times were unacceptable, days not hours. Long standing small bugs never seem to get fixed

My bookkeeper in Ballito recommended it and she was right

Everything I invoice, every slip I capture, it is all in one place now. Month end used to take three days and now the file is closed by lunch on the first. I especially rate the supplier side, capturing bills takes seconds. For the price I honestly cannot fault it.

Pros

Slip capture on the phone works well; cloud based so load shedding does not cost you data

A quiet workhorse for 4 years now

Took me a weekend to set up and I was invoicing by the Monday. Adding my admin lady as a second user cost R75 a month, which felt fair. Recurring invoices run themselves on the first of the month, I do not touch them. Cannot see us outgrowing it for a few years yet.

Pros

Recurring invoices and statements run themselves

Does everything my 12 person business needs

Took me a weekend to set up and I was invoicing by the Monday. The audit trail saved us in a SARS verification, every figure traced back cleanly. SARS deadlines come and go and I hardly notice them anymore.

Pros

Cloud based so load shedding does not cost you data

Good decision for a 7 person company

I capture supplier invoices the day they arrive and cash flow finally makes sense. Everything syncs to the cloud so load shedding at the office just means I work from home. If you are a small business still doing manual books, just make the jump.

Pros

Recurring invoices and statements run themselves

Cons

Stock module not suited to serious warehousing

Signed up during a February VAT scramble and it sorted us out properly. Everything syncs to the cloud so load shedding at the office just means I work from home. Yoco payments reconcile against invoices without me lifting a finger. It does what the brochure says, which is rarer than it should be.

Working well for our 30 person team

I run three small companies and manage all of them from one login. Yoco payments reconcile against invoices without me lifting a finger. VAT at 15 percent is calculated on everything automatically and the return is basically ready when SARS comes knocking. It just quietly does its job, which is all I ask of software.

Pros

Payroll journals post across automatically

Doing okay for our 20 person setup

Mostly a good experience over the past 6 years, with some frustrations. The bank feed dropped for about a week in January and I had to import statements manually. Customer statements could look more professional without paying a designer.

Pros

Recurring invoices and statements run themselves

Cons

Report layouts cannot really be customised

Price increases every year are wearing thin

I wanted to like it but the last six months have been one frustration after another. Every price letter says the same thing about added value I am not seeing.

Exactly what our 300 person business needed

Quotes go out from my phone while I am still standing at the client. It flagged a duplicate supplier invoice last month and paid for itself right there.

Cons

Statement templates are a bit plain

Serving our Vanderbijlpark operation well

The price in rand, billed in rand, with support in our time zone. That matters. I photograph slips with the phone app and the capture is surprisingly accurate. Every plumber, sparky and consultant I know gets the same advice from me now.

Cons

Annual price increases keep arriving

Solid choice for our Stellenbosch business

The trial convinced me inside a week, mostly because of the bank feeds. It flagged a duplicate supplier invoice last month and paid for itself right there. Would recommend it to any small business in South Africa without hesitation.

Pros

Slip capture on the phone works well; bank feeds from the major SA banks are quick to set up

Cons

The Start plan is limited to one user

A quiet workhorse for 7 years now

Quotes go out from my phone while I am still standing at the client. It handles our small stock list fine and warns us when items run low. The bank feed from Capitec has been rock solid, maybe two hiccups in 7 years.

Pros

Supplier bill capture is quick; the audit trail is clean and complete
