Slow system and slower support

I wanted to like it but the last six months have been one frustration after another. Phone support kept escalating me and nobody ever phoned back.

Cons

Price keeps climbing while the gaps stay the same. Escalations went nowhere

Not impressed with the stock module

Support is where this fell apart for us. Logging in during month end was painfully slow for most of March. Logging in during month end was painfully slow for most of October.

Cons

Escalations went nowhere. Support response times were unacceptable, days not hours

Great fit for a small Paarl business

Four stars because the core is excellent and the extras are not. The mobile app lags when capturing photos of slips, especially on Android.

Pros

Rand pricing with a proper local support line

Happy overall, support can be slow

Came from Xero for the local support and it has been a fair trade. Statements go out to all customers in one run at month end.

Cons

Project costing is not really there

Solid local product with support that answers

The VAT201 report matches what we capture on eFiling line for line. The Afrikaans support agent I got walked me through my first VAT return patiently.

Pros

Handles multiple small companies from one login; debtors management is simple and clear

Cons

Foreign currency is a paid extra

Good but not perfect for our Durban team

It does most things well and a few things averagely. Multi currency costs extra, which stung when we landed our first Namibian client. I especially rate the supplier side, capturing bills takes seconds.

Pros

Handles multiple small companies from one login; fair monthly cost for what you get

Cons

Statement templates are a bit plain

The Capitec feed changed my Monday mornings

We got audited last year and pulling the records took minutes, not days. I especially rate the supplier side, capturing bills takes seconds. If you are a small business still doing manual books, just make the jump.

Pros

Recurring invoices and statements run themselves

Cons

Stock module not suited to serious warehousing

From shoebox of slips to proper books

We run our whole 110 person operation on it and the books have never been this clean. It flagged a duplicate supplier invoice last month and paid for itself right there. Recurring invoices run themselves on the first of the month, I do not touch them. It just quietly does its job, which is all I ask of software.

Pros

Recurring invoices and statements run themselves

Doing okay for our 9 person setup

Solid for invoicing and VAT, less convincing once stock gets involved. Statements go out to all customers in one run at month end.

Pros

30 day trial with no card needed; accountant access is included, no extra licence

Cons

Report layouts cannot really be customised

Easy enough that I do the books myself

The price in rand, billed in rand, with support in our time zone. That matters. Recurring invoices run themselves on the first of the month, I do not touch them. If you are a small business still doing manual books, just make the jump.

Pros

Supplier bill capture is quick

Mostly great, mobile app needs work

Good product overall though it took me longer than expected to find my feet. Support is friendly when you reach them but the queue can be long at month end. Once the customer list was imported the rest of setup was quick.

Pros

Dashboard gives the cash position at a glance

My bookkeeper in Randburg recommended it and she was right

Decent system that occasionally tests my patience. The mobile app lags when capturing photos of slips, especially on Android.

Pros

Every bookkeeper in the country knows it; slip capture on the phone works well

Cons

No proper built in budgeting

Working well for our 18 person team

Bookkeeping used to eat my Sundays and now it takes an hour with coffee. The dashboard tells me the bank balance, who owes me and what I owe, all on one screen. For the price I honestly cannot fault it.

Pros

Bank feeds from the major SA banks are quick to set up

Cons

Some screens feel slow on weak connections

Mixed feelings after 8 years

The everyday stuff is great. The moment you need something unusual it gets harder. Support is friendly when you reach them but the queue can be long at month end. Month end used to take three days and now the file is closed by lunch on the first.

Pros

Accountant access is included, no extra licence

Cons

Stock module not suited to serious warehousing

Decent fit for a 7 person company

We are happy on it for the basics but we have started bumping into its ceiling. The mobile app lags when capturing photos of slips, especially on Android.

Cons

Inventory reporting is basic, detailed analysis means Excel

Great fit for a small Gqeberha business

Solid for invoicing and VAT, less convincing once stock gets involved. I wish budgeting was built in properly instead of feeling like an afterthought. The bank feed from Nedbank has been rock solid, maybe two hiccups in 4 years.

Pros

Works fine on a tablet at the counter

Cons

Stock module not suited to serious warehousing

Does everything my 55 person business needs

Solid for invoicing and VAT, less convincing once stock gets involved. I wish budgeting was built in properly instead of feeling like an afterthought. Recurring invoices run themselves on the first of the month, I do not touch them.

Pros

Slip capture on the phone works well; quotes and invoices are genuinely fast

Gets us there, with some detours

We are happy on it for the basics but we have started bumping into its ceiling. You can see profit per month at a glance, which changed how I price jobs.

Cons

The Start plan is limited to one user

Working well for our 220 person team

My accountant suggested it when we registered for VAT and it has carried us since. Yoco payments reconcile against invoices without me lifting a finger.

Pros

The audit trail is clean and complete; vAT201 report maps directly to what eFiling asks for
