Financial Manager · Wyk Agri Supplies

30 April 2026

Agriculture · 51–200 employees South Africa Used for 1–2 years

Doing okay for our 55 person setup

After 2 years the verdict is positive with real footnotes. Performance dips at month end when everyone hammers the same ledgers. Partner hours are part of the running cost, ours bills every month for something.

Pros

Multi company consolidation

Cons

Premium versus Essentials is a hard call

Solid choice for our Vanderbijlpark business

Power BI dashboards read the live data, so our exco pack builds itself overnight. New starters know Outlook and Excel already, so the learning curve is gentler than the last ERP.

Pros

Monthly updates, no upgrade projects; approvals inside Teams and Outlook

Cons

Premium versus Essentials is a hard call

Still glad we chose it, 3 years later

Team Members licences at a fraction of the price cover all the approve and view users. New starters know Outlook and Excel already, so the learning curve is gentler than the last ERP. It is the last ERP decision we plan to make for a decade.

Pros

Team Members licences for light users

Good but not perfect for our Rustenburg team

We are happy on it, though the total cost of ownership needed explaining to the board. Getting SA specific bank integration working needed a third party connector. Bank reconciliation with imported statements is quick and the matching learns.

Pros

Power BI reads live data natively; one ledger across finance, stock and sales

Cons

Premium versus Essentials is a hard call

Working well for our 80 person team

The monthly release cadence means we get improvements without upgrade projects. Dimensions replaced our old cost centre hacks with something the auditors actually praised. For SA mid market businesses the shortlist should start here.

Pros

Monthly updates, no upgrade projects

Per user pricing hurts at scale

Every customisation we paid for became a liability at update time. A partner developer left and took the knowledge of our customisations with him. Training the floor staff took months longer than the plan admitted.

Cons

Partner dependency with no easy exit

Mostly happy in Roodepoort, a few gripes

It does everything, which means deciding what it should do took months. Premium versus Essentials forced a decision we did not feel equipped to make.

Pros

Approvals inside Teams and Outlook; one ledger across finance, stock and sales

Cons

Premium versus Essentials is a hard call

Doing okay for our 14 person setup

Very capable once configured, and configuring took longer than promised. Getting SA specific bank integration working needed a third party connector. The licensing matrix took our IT manager a weekend to truly understand.

Pros

Strong SA partner channel

2 years in and still happy

Migrating history from our old system went better than anyone in the room predicted. Reporting via Power BI replaced a full time spreadsheet job. Recommended to every FD who asks, and they ask often.

Pros

Approvals inside Teams and Outlook

Doing the job for us in Worcester

The monthly release cadence means we get improvements without upgrade projects. The Excel integration is two way, edit a journal in a sheet and publish it back. The AppSource marketplace had a payroll connector and an EDI add on ready to go.

Pros

Power BI reads live data natively; monthly updates, no upgrade projects

our stock figures finally mean something

Our partner in Sandton ran the implementation in four months and we went live without missing a shipping day. Purchase approvals carry limits per role, so the buying discipline enforces itself.

Pros

AppSource marketplace for add ons

Our accountant in Vereeniging recommended it, good call

Warehouse scanning into the same ledger as the debtors book ended our reconciliation misery. Worth the project, worth the licences, worth the change management.

The Microsoft tax is worth it, mostly

We are happy on it, though the total cost of ownership needed explaining to the board. Updates are monthly and mostly smooth, but our customisations need testing each time. Partner hours are part of the running cost, ours bills every month for something.

Our 75 user rollout landed on time and on budget

We are happy on it, though the total cost of ownership needed explaining to the board. Updates are monthly and mostly smooth, but our customisations need testing each time. Our partner customised the sales order screen without breaking a single update since.

Cons

Good but not perfect for our Durban team

We are happy on it, though the total cost of ownership needed explaining to the board. The out of the box reports are average, Power BI is where reporting actually happens. Premium versus Essentials forced a decision we did not feel equipped to make.

Too much ERP for what we needed

The sales demo and the delivered reality were distant cousins. Simple changes need a change request, a quote and a fortnight.

Powerful, Microsoft flavoured, and priced accordingly. The licensing matrix took our IT manager a weekend to truly understand. Premium versus Essentials forced a decision we did not feel equipped to make.

Pros

Not what we hoped for our Worcester business

The product may be fine, our partner experience certainly was not. A partner developer left and took the knowledge of our customisations with him.

Cons

Change requests for simple things. Partner dependency with no easy exit
