Serving our Klerksdorp operation well

Our UK clients' employees get payslips through the app and the queries dried up. The employee app shows payslips, P60s and leave without a single email from us. UK payroll processed from Durban, professionally, profitably, calmly.

Good but not perfect for our Rustenburg team

We love the product and squint at the new pricing model. Some bureau workflows still feel smoother in the desktop version.

Pros

Batch processing across employers

Cons

Transition period support waits

Doing the job for us in Roodepoort

Our bureau in Pretoria runs 10 UK client payrolls on it and pay day has never once slipped. Payslip layouts are polished enough that clients notice the upgrade. Pension re enrolment dates track themselves across every employer.

Pros

Polished payslip layouts; auto enrolment with major UK providers

Cons

Desktop retirement forces migration

Doing okay for our 15 person setup

Superb payroll software in the middle of a platform transition. Our quote for the cloud came in higher than the old desktop licence, noticeably.

Pros

Statutory pay correct first time; auto enrolment with major UK providers

Cons

A quiet workhorse for 2 years now

Our UK clients' employees get payslips through the app and the queries dried up. Journal exports post into Xero and FreeAgent for the clients on cloud books.

Pros

Statutory pay correct first time

Cons

Some workflows smoother on desktop still

Good but not perfect for our Bloemfontein team

We love the product and squint at the new pricing model. The calculator based cloud pricing makes budgeting a guessing game until the quote lands. HMRC recognition means submissions just work, no middleware, no prayers.

Pros

Bureau licence covers unlimited employers; specialist support that answers fast

Cons

Some workflows smoother on desktop still

Working well for our 5 person team

CIS handling for construction clients works properly, which UK software often fumbles. HMRC recognition means submissions just work, no middleware, no prayers. The most reliable software in our entire practice stack.

Pros

Specialist support that answers fast

Cons

Cloud pricing needs a calculator quote

Happy customer in Polokwane

The support team answers like payroll specialists because they are. The client portal lets UK employers approve timesheets in their own morning. Recommended to every outsourcing practice we meet.

Pros

Seamless new tax year updates; batch processing across employers

Doing okay for our 9 person setup

Excellent for UK work, and obviously it does nothing for SA payrolls. It is UK and Irish legislation only, an SA employer needs local software. Batch processing runs a dozen small employers before the first coffee.

Pros

Statutory pay correct first time; bureau licence covers unlimited employers

Cons

Transition period support waits

Frustrating experience for our 12 person team

Transition support did not match the product's usual standard. The cloud quote for our book nearly doubled our software line.

Cons

The desktop goodbye stings a little

Great software navigating its own cloud migration with mixed grace. It is UK and Irish legislation only, an SA employer needs local software. Some bureau workflows still feel smoother in the desktop version.

Pros

Employee app for payslips and P60s; batch processing across employers

Cons

History migration needs checking

Solid choice for our Benoni business

Auto enrolment used to terrify our juniors, the software walks them through it. Batch processing runs a dozen small employers before the first coffee. Furlough era complexity was handled quickly, which earned lasting trust. Our bureau would not run without it.

Seamless new tax year updates

Exactly what our 14 person business needed

We onboarded a new UK client book of thirty employers in a fortnight. The price per client is low enough that small employers stay profitable to serve.

Mostly happy in Benoni, a few gripes

Superb payroll software in the middle of a platform transition. Our quote for the cloud came in higher than the old desktop licence, noticeably. Migration of multi year client history to the cloud needed careful checking.

Expected better, Pietermaritzburg customer

The forced cloud migration landed in our busiest quarter. Training the team on the cloud workflows cost a week we had not budgeted. Tickets during the migration window took days instead of hours.

We process UK payroll for British accounting firms and BrightPay is the tool of that trade. The awards on their website are earned, we would add one.
