Construction · 1–10 employees South Africa Used for 6–12 months

Serving our Upington operation well

Payslips hit staff email the moment I finalise, the WhatsApp questions stopped. The tiers by headcount are clear, you always know what growth will cost. Weekly, fortnightly and monthly cycles run side by side cleanly. It quietly does exactly what it promises every month.

Pros

Guided pay run anyone can follow; journals post to Sage Accounting

Good but not perfect for our Upington team

Easy to run, harder to get deep information out of. Support is friendly but tickets beyond the basics take a few days. Complex pay structures with multiple rate tables just do not fit.

Cons

Payslip layout is barely customisable

Real Estate · 1–10 employees South Africa Used for 2+ years

Everything SARS needs, nothing I do not

For a standard payroll it is excellent, our edge cases needed workarounds. The browser session times out faster than I would like mid capture.

Pros

Journals post to Sage Accounting

South Africa Used for 1–2 years

Serving our Bloemfontein operation well

The real time calculation shows me the net pay effect before I commit anything. Every plan includes unlimited companies and users, which is unheard of at this price. IRP5s at year end were generated without me touching a settings screen.

Mostly happy in Potchefstroom, a few gripes

Happy after 2 years but the feature gaps are taking long to close. Reporting is thin, beyond the standard set you export and build it yourself. The EMP201 figures are on screen when I need them for eFiling.

Pros

Weekly and monthly cycles side by side

Cons

Bulk employee changes are tedious

Our payroll moved to the cloud and got simpler

Leave requests and balances live in the same place as the payslip now. Adding a new employee is a ten minute form and they are in the next run. You can preview a payslip before finalising, mistakes get caught early.

Pros

Unlimited companies and users on every tier; weekly and monthly cycles side by side

Food & Beverage · 1–10 employees South Africa Used for 2+ years

Doing okay for our 9 person setup

Easy to run, harder to get deep information out of. There is no proper costing split if staff work across departments.

Pros

Real time payslip calculations; unlimited companies and users on every tier

Cons

Ticket support can take days

Hospitality · 1–10 employees South Africa Used for 1–2 years

Perfect for a small Polokwane employer

I run payroll for 30 client companies from one login and the unlimited companies pricing makes my whole practice model work. The ACB file loads into Standard Bank business banking and the whole run pays in one batch. Honestly the easiest software decision we made this year.

Pros

Journals post to Sage Accounting; leave management included

Cons

Bulk employee changes are tedious

Accounting · 1–10 employees Botswana Used for Less than 6 months

Solid choice for our East London business

Our accountant has her own access, checks the run monthly and we never email files around. It works fine on my phone browser when I am away from the desk. For the price there is nothing to think about.

Pros

No installs, no update downloads, ever; runs anywhere with a browser

Cons

Reporting beyond the standard set is thin

Mixed feelings after 2 years

For a standard payroll it is excellent, our edge cases needed workarounds. You cannot customise the payslip layout much at all.

Cons

Good but not perfect for our Paarl team

Easy to run, harder to get deep information out of. Support is friendly but tickets beyond the basics take a few days.

Pros

ACB bank files for the major banks

Cons

Ticket support can take days

Happy overall, missing a few desktop features

It handles the common cases beautifully and the uncommon ones not at all. Complex pay structures with multiple rate tables just do not fit.

Pros

Leave management included; unlimited companies and users on every tier

Cons

Needs a stable internet connection

Guided pay run a non expert can actually follow

Easy to run, harder to get deep information out of. Bulk changes across many employees still mean editing one at a time. The ACB file loads into Absa business banking and the whole run pays in one batch.

Pros

Leave management included; automatic UIF declarations

Construction South Africa Used for 1–2 years

Doing okay for our 25 person setup

We like it, though we keep a spreadsheet next to it for the odd calculations. Bulk changes across many employees still mean editing one at a time. You cannot customise the payslip layout much at all.

Pros

Journals post to Sage Accounting; clear headcount based pricing in rand

Cons

Employee self service is basic

A quiet workhorse for 8 years now

Tax changes land in the product overnight and I never install anything. Support chat actually solved my ETI question the same morning.

Expected better, Worcester customer

It looked perfect at the demo and unravelled at our first odd case.

Pros

Free 30 day demo company

Cons

Feature roadmap moves slowly. Costs climb as headcount grows

Hospitality · 1–10 employees Namibia Used for Less than 6 months

Expected better, Mbombela customer

Support kept sending me help articles I had already read. Recapturing leave balances after the migration took my admin two full days.

Pros

Runs anywhere with a browser

Cons

Costs climb as headcount grows. Support leans on help articles

The pay run is a guided checklist, I literally cannot forget a step. Every plan includes unlimited companies and users, which is unheard of at this price.

Our Knysna office gave up on it

It looked perfect at the demo and unravelled at our first odd case. Shift allowances and split rates ended up as manual entries every single week. We needed a costing report the system simply cannot produce.

Cons

Support leans on help articles
