HR Administrator · Midrand Construction

21 June 2026

Construction & Trades · 1–10 employees South Africa Used for 1–2 years

Disappointed after 2 years

It looked perfect at the demo and unravelled at our first odd case. Shift allowances and split rates ended up as manual entries every single week.

Pros

IRP5s generated at year end

Cons

Migration from desktop lost history detail. Support leans on help articles

Our accountant in Pretoria recommended it, good call

For a micro business in Richards Bay the entry price makes proper payroll a no brainer. Adding a new employee is a ten minute form and they are in the next run. Perfect for bookkeepers with a stable of small clients.

Good but not perfect for our Stellenbosch team

Easy to run, harder to get deep information out of. Complex pay structures with multiple rate tables just do not fit. Support chat actually solved my ETI question the same morning.

Cons

Reporting beyond the standard set is thin

Doing okay for our 4 person setup

It handles the common cases beautifully and the uncommon ones not at all. Reporting is thin, beyond the standard set you export and build it yourself.

Pros

Weekly and monthly cycles side by side; aCB bank files for the major banks

Cons

Needs a stable internet connection

Accounting · 1–10 employees South Africa Used for 2+ years

Perfect for a small Randburg employer

It suits our small setup, though I can see the ceiling from here. Support is friendly but tickets beyond the basics take a few days. The EMP201 figures are on screen when I need them for eFiling.

Pros

Guided pay run anyone can follow

Cons

Needs a stable internet connection

Fine for standard staff, tricky for odd cases

For a standard payroll it is excellent, our edge cases needed workarounds. The employee self service is more basic than the marketing suggests. New tax year opened by itself, correct tables, zero downloads.

Pros

Free 30 day demo company

Cons

Payslip layout is barely customisable

The ACB file goes to Absa and payday happens

We are 40 people and the monthly cost is less than a round of coffees. New tax year opened by itself, correct tables, zero downloads.

Pros

Guided pay run anyone can follow; leave management included

Cons

Employee self service is basic

Food & Beverage · 11–50 employees South Africa Used for Less than 6 months

Good but not perfect for our Midrand team

For a standard payroll it is excellent, our edge cases needed workarounds. Complex pay structures with multiple rate tables just do not fit. The ACB file loads into FNB business banking and the whole run pays in one batch.

Cons

Bulk employee changes are tedious

Good product that is still filling gaps

It handles the common cases beautifully and the uncommon ones not at all. You cannot customise the payslip layout much at all. Complex pay structures with multiple rate tables just do not fit.

Pros

Runs anywhere with a browser

Cons

Payslip layout is barely customisable

Perfect for a small Roodepoort employer

Coming from desktop payroll, some things are better and a few are missing. Support is friendly but tickets beyond the basics take a few days.

Accounting · 11–50 employees Namibia Used for 6–12 months

Runs payroll for all 35 of my clients from one login

The real time calculation shows me the net pay effect before I commit anything. Every plan includes unlimited companies and users, which is unheard of at this price. The leave module means my staff request days in the app, not in the passage.

Pros

Leave management included; aCB bank files for the major banks

Cons

Bulk employee changes are tedious

Hospitality · 51–200 employees South Africa Used for Less than 6 months

Runs payroll for all 20 of my clients from one login

It handles the common cases beautifully and the uncommon ones not at all. Bulk changes across many employees still mean editing one at a time. The audit trail shows who changed what, useful with two admins.

Cons

Ticket support can take days

Legal · 1–10 employees South Africa Used for 2+ years

Nice and simple, sometimes too simple

It handles the common cases beautifully and the uncommon ones not at all. There is no proper costing split if staff work across departments. The ACB file loads into FNB business banking and the whole run pays in one batch.

Pros

Clear headcount based pricing in rand

Cons

Session timeouts during long captures

Let us down when it counted

Support kept sending me help articles I had already read. The outage in March meant staff got paid a day late and I got the phone calls.

Pros

Real time payslip calculations

Cons

Missing depth for larger payrolls. Migration from desktop lost history detail

Our accountant in Stellenbosch recommended it, good call

I ran December pay from a guest house in the Berg, that flexibility is real. The tiers by headcount are clear, you always know what growth will cost.

Pros

Runs anywhere with a browser

Still glad we chose it, 6 years later

My bookkeeper set it up remotely in an afternoon and handed me a working payroll. Weekly, fortnightly and monthly cycles run side by side cleanly.

Leave management included; free 30 day demo company

Our Umhlanga office gave up on it

After a year of workarounds we moved to a fuller product. We needed a costing report the system simply cannot produce. Shift allowances and split rates ended up as manual entries every single week.

Pros

Journals post to Sage Accounting

Cons

Support leans on help articles

Decent fit for a 9 person company

Good simple product, just know its limits before committing. The browser session times out faster than I would like mid capture.

Cons

Fine for now, watching the roadmap

Happy after 7 years but the feature gaps are taking long to close. Bulk changes across many employees still mean editing one at a time.

Cons

Bulk employee changes are tedious
