Doing okay for our 40 person setup

We like it, though we keep a spreadsheet next to it for the odd calculations.

Unlimited companies and users on every tier

Cons

Bulk employee changes are tedious

Mixed feelings after 3 years

It handles the common cases beautifully and the uncommon ones not at all.

Pros

ACB bank files for the major banks; no installs, no update downloads, ever

Cons

No department cost splitting

PAYE right every month without a payroll diploma

For a standard payroll it is excellent, our edge cases needed workarounds. Complex pay structures with multiple rate tables just do not fit. Every plan includes unlimited companies and users, which is unheard of at this price.

Cons

Reporting beyond the standard set is thin

Expected better, Umhlanga customer

Pay day and the site was down, that is the one day it can never happen. Shift allowances and split rates ended up as manual entries every single week.

Pros

Legislative updates happen automatically in the cloud

Cons

Costs climb as headcount grows

Working well for our 80 person team

I ran December pay from a guest house in the Berg, that flexibility is real.

Pros

ACB bank files for the major banks; legislative updates happen automatically in the cloud

Cons

Needs a stable internet connection

Support chat sends articles, not answers

The feature list reads well but the depth is just not there yet. Recapturing leave balances after the migration took my admin two full days. Every feature request lands on a roadmap nobody can give dates for.

Cons

Migration from desktop lost history detail. Downtime has landed on pay day

Good but not perfect for our Worcester team

We like it, though we keep a spreadsheet next to it for the odd calculations. Complex pay structures with multiple rate tables just do not fit.

Pros

Runs anywhere with a browser

Cons

Payslip layout is barely customisable

Happy customer in Sandton

Everything happens in the browser so office, home or client site makes no difference. The tiers by headcount are clear, you always know what growth will cost. Weekly, fortnightly and monthly cycles run side by side cleanly. If you are still installing payroll updates, you are working too hard.

Runs payroll for all 60 of my clients from one login

We like it, though we keep a spreadsheet next to it for the odd calculations. Reporting is thin, beyond the standard set you export and build it yourself.

Pros

Legislative updates happen automatically in the cloud; no installs, no update downloads, ever

Cons

Ticket support can take days

Our accountant in Centurion recommended it, good call

Everything happens in the browser so office, home or client site makes no difference. The EMP201 figures are on screen when I need them for eFiling. The tiers by headcount are clear, you always know what growth will cost.

Pros

Legislative updates happen automatically in the cloud; aCB bank files for the major banks

Cons

Session timeouts during long captures

Exactly what our 9 person business needed

We pay weekly wages and monthly salaries side by side without any drama. New tax year opened by itself, correct tables, zero downloads. The audit trail shows who changed what, useful with two admins. If you are still installing payroll updates, you are working too hard.

Not what we hoped for our East London business

Fine for five staff, frustrating at fifty. The outage in January meant staff got paid a day late and I got the phone calls.

Pros

No installs, no update downloads, ever

Cons

Costs climb as headcount grows

Mixed feelings after 5 years

It suits our small setup, though I can see the ceiling from here. Bulk changes across many employees still mean editing one at a time. The tiers by headcount are clear, you always know what growth will cost.

Pros

No installs, no update downloads, ever

Cons

Needs a stable internet connection

Mixed feelings after 4 years

For a standard payroll it is excellent, our edge cases needed workarounds. You cannot customise the payslip layout much at all. There is no proper costing split if staff work across departments.

Pros

ACB bank files for the major banks

Cons

Reporting beyond the standard set is thin
