Grows with headcount without punishing you

UIF submissions to the Department go automatically, one thing I never think about. It posts the salary journals through to Sage Accounting automatically. The tiers by headcount are clear, you always know what growth will cost.

Pros

Automatic UIF declarations; aCB bank files for the major banks

Solid choice for our Johannesburg business

Everything happens in the browser so office, home or client site makes no difference. Adding a new employee is a ten minute form and they are in the next run. Small business payroll finally done the modern way.

Pros

Weekly and monthly cycles side by side; runs anywhere with a browser

Our accountant in Midrand recommended it, good call

Leave requests and balances live in the same place as the payslip now. Weekly, fortnightly and monthly cycles run side by side cleanly. New tax year opened by itself, correct tables, zero downloads. If you are still installing payroll updates, you are working too hard.

Pros

Leave management included; no installs, no update downloads, ever

Our accountant in Boksburg recommended it, good call

Our accountant has her own access, checks the run monthly and we never email files around. Weekly, fortnightly and monthly cycles run side by side cleanly. It quietly does exactly what it promises every month.

Cons

Payslip layout is barely customisable

The ACB file goes to Nedbank and payday happens

Happy after 2 years but the feature gaps are taking long to close. Bulk changes across many employees still mean editing one at a time. It posts the salary journals through to Sage Accounting automatically.

Cons

Complex pay structures do not fit well

South Africa Used for 6–12 months

Decent fit for a 70 person company

Coming from desktop payroll, some things are better and a few are missing. There is no proper costing split if staff work across departments. The ACB file loads into Standard Bank business banking and the whole run pays in one batch.

Pros

Unlimited companies and users on every tier

Cons

Payslip layout is barely customisable

Happy customer in Durban

We pay weekly wages and monthly salaries side by side without any drama. IRP5s at year end were generated without me touching a settings screen. Honestly the easiest software decision we made this year.

Cons

Bulk employee changes are tedious

Perfect for a small Pietermaritzburg employer

Mostly a pleasure, occasionally a shrug. Support is friendly but tickets beyond the basics take a few days. Every plan includes unlimited companies and users, which is unheard of at this price.

Pros

Runs anywhere with a browser

Cons

Session timeouts during long captures

Happy customer in Klerksdorp

Moved off desktop payroll in April and the year end was suddenly a non event. You can preview a payslip before finalising, mistakes get caught early. It works fine on my phone browser when I am away from the desk.

Pros

Runs anywhere with a browser

Cons

Employee self service is basic

We outgrew it within a year

It looked perfect at the demo and unravelled at our first odd case. For our headcount the tier pricing stopped being cheap quite quickly.

Cons

Costs climb as headcount grows. Downtime has landed on pay day

No complaints after 2 years

After years of annual licence maths, paying by headcount monthly feels honest. The ACB file loads into Capitec business banking and the whole run pays in one batch. The leave module means my staff request days in the app, not in the passage.

Pros

Journals post to Sage Accounting; leave management included

Still glad we chose it, 4 years later

Mostly happy in Richards Bay, a few gripes

We like it, though we keep a spreadsheet next to it for the odd calculations. The audit trail shows who changed what, useful with two admins.

Pros

Clear headcount based pricing in rand; iRP5s generated at year end

Cons

No department cost splitting

Doing okay for our 6 person setup

Coming from desktop payroll, some things are better and a few are missing. Complex pay structures with multiple rate tables just do not fit.

Cons

Payslip layout is barely customisable

Payslips reach staff phones on the 25th sharp

Everything happens in the browser so office, home or client site makes no difference. The ACB file loads into FNB business banking and the whole run pays in one batch. Weekly, fortnightly and monthly cycles run side by side cleanly. I recommend it to every small employer who asks me.

Pros

Real time payslip calculations; leave management included

Cons

Payslip layout is barely customisable

2 years in and still happy

Tax changes land in the product overnight and I never install anything. The audit trail shows who changed what, useful with two admins.

Our accountant in Paarl recommended it, good call

I run payroll for 35 client companies from one login and the unlimited companies pricing makes my whole practice model work.

Payroll in the browser with zero update stress

Coming from desktop payroll, some things are better and a few are missing. You cannot customise the payslip layout much at all. Every plan includes unlimited companies and users, which is unheard of at this price.

Pros

Real time payslip calculations; journals post to Sage Accounting

Cons

Reporting beyond the standard set is thin

Doing the job for us in Somerset West

As a first time employer I was terrified of PAYE and this held my hand through it. PAYE, UIF and SDL are always current with SARS because the cloud updates itself.

Pros

Guided pay run anyone can follow; real time payslip calculations
