Construction & Trades · 51–200 employees South Africa Used for 2+ years

Decent fit for a 60 person company

For a standard payroll it is excellent, our edge cases needed workarounds. Reporting is thin, beyond the standard set you export and build it yourself.

Cons

Complex pay structures do not fit well

Accounting · 51–200 employees South Africa Used for 2+ years

Mostly happy in Upington, a few gripes

It handles the common cases beautifully and the uncommon ones not at all. Bulk changes across many employees still mean editing one at a time. Complex pay structures with multiple rate tables just do not fit.

Cons

Bulk employee changes are tedious

Good but not perfect for our Centurion team

It suits our small setup, though I can see the ceiling from here. The browser session times out faster than I would like mid capture.

Pros

Journals post to Sage Accounting

Cons

Session timeouts during long captures

Our Polokwane office gave up on it

It looked perfect at the demo and unravelled at our first odd case. Every feature request lands on a roadmap nobody can give dates for. For our headcount the tier pricing stopped being cheap quite quickly.

Pros

Great entry price for micro employers

Cons

Costs climb as headcount grows. Feature roadmap moves slowly

No more year end software installs, ever

Moved off desktop payroll in October and the year end was suddenly a non event. The audit trail shows who changed what, useful with two admins. The leave module means my staff request days in the app, not in the passage.

Pros

Great entry price for micro employers

Migration from desktop was messier than promised

Fine for five staff, frustrating at fifty. Shift allowances and split rates ended up as manual entries every single week.

Cons

Migration from desktop lost history detail. Downtime has landed on pay day

Perfect for a small Bloemfontein employer

My bookkeeper set it up remotely in an afternoon and handed me a working payroll. The leave module means my staff request days in the app, not in the passage.

Pros

Automatic UIF declarations; weekly and monthly cycles side by side

Good but not perfect for our Mbombela team

Mostly a pleasure, occasionally a shrug. Reporting is thin, beyond the standard set you export and build it yourself.

Pros

Doing the job for us in Benoni

For a micro business in Bloemfontein the entry price makes proper payroll a no brainer. It posts the salary journals through to Sage Accounting automatically. The compliance peace of mind alone is worth it.

Pros

Free 30 day demo company; unlimited companies and users on every tier

Decent fit for a 6 person company

Happy after 6 years but the feature gaps are taking long to close. The employee self service is more basic than the marketing suggests.

Pros

Journals post to Sage Accounting

No department cost splitting

Doing okay for our 30 person setup

It handles the common cases beautifully and the uncommon ones not at all. You cannot customise the payslip layout much at all.

Pros

Weekly and monthly cycles side by side; clear headcount based pricing in rand

Cons

Payslip layout is barely customisable

Good but not perfect for our Cape Town team

We like it, though we keep a spreadsheet next to it for the odd calculations. You cannot customise the payslip layout much at all. Support is friendly but tickets beyond the basics take a few days.

Pros

Leave management included

Cons

Reporting beyond the standard set is thin

Happy customer in Centurion

The real time calculation shows me the net pay effect before I commit anything. The tiers by headcount are clear, you always know what growth will cost. It works fine on my phone browser when I am away from the desk.

Pros

Leave management included

Cons

Employee self service is basic
